Feel Free to Ignore

Seriously, heed the title. This is essentially me talking to myself to try to figure out... Stuff. I guess. Again, feel free to ignore. Rest assured it won't be very interesting.

I suppose I could be called a romantic. I mean, I enjoy the idea of being a romantic relationship. The problem being, of all the relationships I've had, all but one fizzled out within a month. The aforementioned exception, what I regard as my first real relationship, lasted for three months before we made a mostly agreed-upon decision to simply be friends. The point being, I haven't really had any fulfilling romantic endeavors. I know that I'm only 16, and I have plenty of time ahead of me, but I've never been known for being patient.

To elaborate upon my earlier statement, it's not really just that I enjoy the idea of a romantic relationship. Moreover, it's that I'm often stricken with bouts of acute loneliness which I am helpless to combat. Those nights (as they usually are) I often spend curled up in my bed with my teddy bear in an attempt to give myself some measure of comfort. Yes, I sleep with a stuffed bear. Moving on.

I guess I just... Don't understand why I should have to wait for happiness, y'know? My social ineptitude doesn't help, making it so I can hardly talk to guys whom I don't really know, let alone even think about flirting or anything. Especially with the layer of risk added by, as one might have gathered, my orientation. Given all of the circumstances, it's safe to assume I won't be entering a relationship any time soon. Which is likely the cause of my occasional lonely nights.

Again, you really didn't need to read this, and I'm submitting this under the hope that most people won't, but since I've already written it, I don't have anything else to do with it and don't really want to delete it. So, yeah. Hope you enjoyed your glimpse into the life of a romantic machine.

Encryption program finally finished!

I recently (today, in fact) finished working out all of the bugs in my Python encryption/decryption script. I'm actually quite proud of it, which is why I'm making this entry, obviously.

It works by taking the ASCII value of each character (a number that represents each letter, number, or symbol) in a line of text or .txt file and shifting them a set number of values. I know, that doesn't seem very fancy, but it has a second part too: it takes a key, say, four, and then makes length / key strings of characters in order to rearrange them. The end result can look something like this:

I'm going to be encrypted!

zA8CX:!G@!88!GA7:B6 B!E <5L

So, yeah. I like it. And it actually works on multi-line text files, which I had to spend over an hour debugging because I wasn't used to file selection and different semantics of read/write operations in Python. Also I had an if statement that should've been indented one more block and caused line breaks to turn into the letter h during decryption.

A New Beginning?

I suppose, first of all, I ought to introduce myself. My name is VoidEnigma, and I'm an aspiring programmer, mathematician, and pianist, among other things. I'm here to observe and comment, as I always have been.

Now, as I understand, many people are very distraught over the discontinuation of the Flipnote Hatena service. However, it's been obvious that the service was in its dying days for over a year, and I, for one, think it was about time we got our new beginning.

That is, if a new beginning is truly what this is. I suppose I lack sufficient data to pass judgment, especially because Flipnote Studio 3D has not yet even been released, but at this point it appears as if we're all going to get a new start. And I, for one, welcome it. Let's try harder to keep the community a real community this time, alright?

But, moving on, I noticed something else interesting, which most of you no doubt already have as well: Hatena will no longer be allowing anyone under the age of 18 to register for their services, but they are allowing those of us under that threshold who registered before it was enacted to remain. That was a notable update in the ToU, which of course everyone else read as well. This is also a bit of a new beginning, as Hatena has apparently gotten tired of the amount of immaturity that was on Flipnote. Of course, there are mature people under the age of 18, but I suppose it's better to be safe than sorry.
